What Is SES / JBOD?

SES (Storage Enclosure Services) provides smart monitoring for external storage chassis—reporting drive health, fan status, and temperatures in real time. It adds management and reliability features to storage arrays.

JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) refers to enclosures that house multiple drives. While originally used for non-RAID setups, IronPC configures RAID arrays directly on JBOD systems using compatible RAID controllers—combining capacity with flexibility.

Why RAID on JBOD with SES?
